Hello! We’re Shivani and Vineeth, the couple behind South Trails.
We’re a small family from Trichy, Tamil Nadu, and we love travelling together.
Road trips have always been something we enjoy. Packing our bags, getting into the car, stopping somewhere for a cup of tea, and watching the scenery change along the way. Sometimes, those little moments become our favourite memories.
We’ve travelled to many places across Tamil Nadu, and there are a few we keep going back to. Ooty is one of them. No matter how many times we visit, we still look forward to those beautiful hills and winding roads.
These days, we travel with our little boy too. Our trips are a little different now, with more breaks, unexpected stops, and plenty of little surprises. But we love making these memories together.
And somewhere along the way, we decided to start South Trails.

Why We Started South Trails
Growing up in Tamil Nadu, our culture has always been a part of our everyday lives.
The excitement of Pongal, the colourful kolams outside our homes, the smell of traditional food being prepared for festivals, and the beautiful temples we’ve visited since childhood.
We grew up with these things, so sometimes it’s easy to forget just how special they are. But whenever we travel, we find ourselves learning something new about the place we’ve called home all our lives.
An old Chettinad house, a temple with centuries of history, a small town with its own traditions, or a local dish we’ve never tried before. There’s always another story waiting to be discovered.
We started South Trails because we wanted to share these experiences with you. Not just the famous tourist attractions, but also the people, food, festivals, history, and little traditions that make Tamil Nadu what it is.
We want people visiting from other parts of India and around the world to experience the Tamil Nadu we know and love.
Helping You Plan Your Trip
We know that planning a trip takes time.
Even when we travel within Tamil Nadu, we spend hours looking for places to visit, deciding where to stay, and figuring out how much we can fit into a day.
And when you’re travelling with a child, there’s even more to think about!
That’s why we want South Trails to be more than just a collection of travel memories.
We share our experiences, photographs, places we’ve enjoyed, and practical tips that might help you plan your own journey.
We also believe in being honest about our travels. Not every place turns out exactly as expected. Sometimes it’s too crowded, the weather doesn’t cooperate, or we simply run out of time.
We’ll share those experiences too, because they can be just as helpful when you’re planning a trip.
Our hope is that our guides make it a little easier for you to explore Tamil Nadu, especially if you’re visiting for the first time.

There’s Still So Much to Explore
The funny thing about living in Tamil Nadu is that even after all these years, we still have so much left to see.
There are villages we haven’t visited, festivals we’d love to experience, old streets we want to walk through, and so many stories we haven’t heard yet.
And we’re looking forward to discovering them, one trip at a time.
South Trails is our little place to collect those memories and share them with you.
If our stories help you plan a trip, discover a place you’ve never heard of, or simply make you curious about Tamil Nadu, that would mean a lot to us.
Thank you for stopping by our little corner of the internet. We’re so happy you’re here.
With love,
Shivani & Vineeth
